Moving anger on
Firstly it might help to write down, draw or say why you are angry. Shouting your anger might help too. Staying with your feelings is a useful technique letting the feeling of anger wash over you to be released. You could burn any writing afterwards to release it.
Anger often responds well to physical release but this must be done in a way so you don't hurt yourself or someone else. Here are some suggestions for physically working out anger:
• Try thumping a cushion or mattress
• Buy yourself a punch bag and use it
• Make or buy yourself a huge cushion to thump
• Pull on something that will give a good resistance like a pair of old socks or tights
• Rip something to shreds
• Do some physical activity like running, cycling or swimming
• Try a contact sport
• Take up a martial art or do a self-defence class (useful to empower yourself if you have been attacked)
• Dancing to staccato rhythms or music that expresses rage like certain thrash metal
